Choosing your own tree in the field is one of the best ways to start the festive season. Most farms open from late November and close a few days before Christmas, and many sell out of the most popular sizes in the first two weekends.

Look for farms that let you choose and cut, or tag a tree early and collect it later. Check whether you need to book a slot, what the trees cost and whether netting and delivery are included.
